Cesar Pérez Barnés is a Partner and Head of the Mexico office of the Southern Cross Group. Southern Cross is a private equity firm founded in 1998 to make control investments in Latin American companies that have significant potential for improved performance and growth.  SCG has cumulatively raised over 3.5 billion dollars and is currently investing its Fund V which has commitments of $ 700 million dollars. 

Prior to joining SCG in 2007, Mr. Perez Barnés was a Principal with Advent International in its Mexico City office. He started his career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co and worked also with Booz Allen advising clients on strategy and operations in Mexico, the US, Europe and Latin America. In 2002, he was the founding Managing Director of Endeavor Mexico, an international NGO that promotes high impact entrepreneurship in emerging markets.

Mr. Pérez Barnés holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and an M.S. in Engineering Systems also from MIT. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He is currently a member of the Executive and Investment committees of Southern Cross, a member of the board of Intelego, Even Telecom, Grupo Expansion, Planigrupo, and Javer, and formerly of More Pharma Corporation. He is also a former member of the board of AMEXCAP, a member of the advisory board of Endeavor Mexico, and a member of YPO´s Mexico City Chapter.
